Acknowledgements
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the Estate of Elmer Bernstein for their generous support in the development of this website. Their encouragement and interest in this ambitious tribute to my life-long hero gave my confidence wings when I needed it most. Their kind permission to allow me to borrow from their vast library of photographs helped bring my story to life, as I was able to show Mr. Bernstein at various stages throughout his phenomenal career. Where my words failed, photos of the maestro reveal a man with an enormous talent, a passion for music and all the arts, and an ever-youthful spirit and enthusiasm.
I applaud the artistry of my dear friend Mario Ruiz, of Telodance Studios, who designed and developed this website. Mario, always a great listener, knew how important this project was to me and translated my ideas and concepts into a site far more wonderful than I ever could have envisioned.
I’d like to express my gratitude to another great friend and fellow movie fanatic, Ellen Blake, for viewing my site with an objective editorial eye, and for reassuring me that my approach to Elmer’s work will appeal to an audience eager to understand the art of film music and to discover the works of one of its greatest practitioners.
I wish to thank my dear wife, Mary Carol, and son, Joshua, who share my deep love of books, music, and the visual arts and who encouraged me to begin and complete this project.
